Bulb to 2cm across, often with bulbils. Stem 4-15cm in height, usually about 8cm. Leaves five to eight lanceolate, alternate. Flowers broadly bell-shaped, yellow, chequered with orange or reddish-brown, having little scent. Tepals 2-4.8cm long, with a small nectary at the angle of the bell, with a smooth edge to the inner three. Style trifid, with branches 3-5mm. Capsule not winged. Central Turkey, among limestone rocks, in peaty soil at 1800-3000m.
